รมต.กัมพูชาเตือนไทยค้านเขาพระวิหารอาจกระทบความสัมพันธ์
นายฮอร์ นัมฮง รัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศกัมพูชา กล่าวต่อผู้สื่อข่าวในวันนี้ว่า กระแสความรู้สึกชาตินิยมที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศไทย จากกรณีเขาพระวิหารที่ตั้งอยู่บริเวณพรมแดนกัมพูชา กำลังเป็นอันตรายต่อความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเพื่อนบ้านทั้งสองประเทศที่ได้บรรลุข้อตกลงเรื่องการจัดตั้งเขตแดนบริเวณรอบเขาพระวิหาร ที่กัมพูชาต้องการจะให้ยูเนสโกขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นมรดกโลก ด้วยความหวังว่าจะดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยว
แต่นายนพดล ปัทมะ รัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศของไทย กำลังถูกโจมตีอย่างหนัก ที่ไปทำข้อตกลงกับกัมพูชา จนกลายเป็นประเด็นสำคัญในการอภิปรายไม่ไว้วางใจรัฐบาลในสัปดาห์นี้ แม้รัฐบาลสามารถรอดพ้นการลงมติไม่ไว้วางใจมาได้อย่างง่ายดาย แต่ประเด็นเขาพระวิหารได้กลายเป็นประเด็นหลักทางการเมืองในประเทศไปแล้ว
นายฮอร์ นัมฮง กล่าวว่า
พรรคการเมืองในประเทศไทยไม่ควรฉวยโอกาสเอาประเด็นเขาพระวิหารมาเป็นการต่อสู้ทางการเมืองในประเทศ ที่อาจเป็นกระทบกระเทือนต่อมิตรภาพและความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างสองประเทศได้ ซึ่งในสัปดาห์นี้ กัมพูชาได้ปิดทางเข้าเขาพระวิหาร หลังจากมีคนไทยกว่า 100 คน เดินขบวนไปประท้วงที่จุดผ่านแดน ในประเด็นที่ว่า ประเทศไทยได้สูญเสียดินแดนใหักัมพูชา

การวาดแผนที่เขาพระวิหารเพื่อให้ได้รับการบรรจุรายชื่อเป็นมรดกโลก ไม่ได้ส่งผลกระทบต่อพรมแดนใด ๆ ทั้งสิ้น ประเทศไทยไม่ได้สูญเสียดินแดนแม้แต่หนึ่งเซ็นติเมตร เมื่อปีที่แล้ว กัมพูชาได้พยายามที่จะให้เขาพระวิหาร ซึ่งตั้งอยู่บนภูเขาบริเวณชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชาได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนโดยยูเนสโก แต่ต้องประสบความล้มเหลว ท่ามกลางกระแสข่าวลือว่า ประเทศไทยขัดขวางข้อตกลงนี้
กัมพูชาเริ่มหาทางให้เขาพระวิหารได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นมรดกโลกอีก หลังจากสองประเทศเคยเผชิญรอยร้าวบนความสัมพันธ์ เมื่อเกือบ 6 ปีก่อน และในอดีตที่ผ่านมา ทั้งสองประเทศ มีประวัติเคยแย่งกันครอบครองเขาพระวิหาร ที่ตั้งอยู่บนแผ่นดินกัมพูชา แต่ทางขึ้นอยู่ในประเทศไทย ซึ่งอดีตกษัตริย์นโรดม สีหนุ ได้นำเรื่องนี้ ฟ้องร้องต่อศาลโลก เมื่อปี 2505 และศาลโลกตัดสินให้เขาพระวิหารเป็นของกัมพูชา
Cambodian Foreign Minister warned the Preah Vihear dispute could affect the relationship between the two countries.
Flaring nationalist sentiment in Thailand over a contested Preah Vihear temple on the Cambodian border threatens to harm ties between the neighbours. The two countries have reached a deal setting out the border around the Preah Vihear temple, which Cambodia wants to have recognised by the UN’s cultural body UNESCO as a World Heritage site, in hopes of drawing tourists, Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong said Friday.
However, Thai Foreign Minister has come under fire for agreeing to the deal with Cambodia, which became a key issue in a no-confidence debate against the Thai government this week. Although Thai government easily survived a no-confidence vote, the debate has already moved the Preah Vihear issue to the forefront of domestic politics.
“Political parties in Thailand should not exploit the Preah Vihear issue in their domestic struggles. That could damage friendship and good relations between the two countries. Cambodia closed the nearby border checkpoint with Thailand this week after more than 100 Thai demonstrators marched to the compound to protest the deal, which they say resulted in Thailand losing territory at the border point”, Namhong said.
Namhong insisted that Thailand won’t lose any land as a result of the deal.
“The drawing of the Preah Vihear temple map for listing as a World Heritage site does not affect the border at all. Thailand will not lose even one centimetre of land”
Cambodia last year attemped to have the Preah Vihear, perched on a mountaintop on Thai-Cambodia border listed by UNESCO. But that effort failed, amid rumours Thailand had blocked the deal.
Cambodia began seeking World Heritage status for the Preah Vihear temple, which has long plagued relations between the two countries, nearly six years ago.
Both countries have historically laid claim to the site, which sits on Cambodian soil but can only be easily accessed from Thailand. Former Cambodian king Norodom Sihanouk took Thailand to the World Court in 1962 over the two countries’ claim to Preah Vihear. And The court ruled the temple belonged to Cambodia.
